There's a New Community Coming to Lopez Village

Phase 1

Village North is Phase 1 of a three-phase development project on the site which will eventually provide up to 45 affordable rental housing units.

These homes will make a substantial dent in the affordable housing crisis on Lopez Island, and a significant improvement in the lives of low-income workers, seniors, and families who call Lopez home.

By housing the workers that create a functioning island economy, this project will be a game changer for the Lopez community as a whole.

What Will it Cost to Live at Village North?

The homes will be available for low income working people, seniors, and people experiencing homelessness or with special needs. All units are affordable to people earning up to 50% of the Area Median Income* (see the chart below) and two units will be ADA accessible. For households that qualify by income, the rents will be $771 for a one bedroom and $932 for a two bedroom apartment based on today’s limits.

Lopez Needs Your Support!

Behind the beautiful landscapes and the wonderful community of people, Lopez is struggling with a housing crisis. 40% of housing on Lopez consists of single-family homes that are either seasonally vacant when the owners are off-island or are short term vacation rentals, leaving a small number of available year-round rentals. Nearly 40% of renter households and 75% of low-income households on Lopez are cost-burdened (paying more than 30% of their income on housing).
With your help, Housing Lopez seeks to address these concerns and ensure the availability of safe, affordable housing so our island community can thrive.
