Celebrating Paula Lavoie
Paula Lavoie has been one of those people at Housing Lopez. Since joining us as our bookkeeper in June 2022, Paula has helped keep our finances on track through a period of tremendous growth. She has managed the day-to-day details that keep an organization running: collecting rents and donations, paying bills, maintaining rent rolls, preparing monthly financial statements, and helping with the annual reporting that comes with managing affordable housing.
She has also worked alongside three Housing Lopez treasurers: Doug Bowen, Linda Floodeen, and Bill Johnson. Through it all, Paula has been consistent, dependable, and ready to help wherever she was needed, even pitching in at open houses and other Housing Lopez activities. Beyond the day-to-day work, what has always stood out is Paula’s genuine belief in what Housing Lopez is doing. She loves the Lopez community and shares our belief that people who call this island home deserve stable, affordable rental housing.
As Housing Lopez has grown, so has the work behind it, bringing a significant increase in the demands of our financial operations. Today, Paula is ready to hand the reins to someone new, and we’re grateful for the care she has given this role. We’ve now engaged Cross Sound Bookkeeping, a bookkeeping service based in Friday Harbor, to take over our day-to-day accounting. This transition will help us build on the firm foundation Paula helped lay and keep pace with the needs of a growing organization.
Paula, thank you for the time, care, and dependability you’ve brought to Housing Lopez. The work you’ve done may often have happened behind the scenes, but it has helped support the homes we provide and the people who live in them. We’re grateful to have had you as part of our team.
With deep appreciation,
The Housing Lopez Team
