Doug Bowen, Treasurer, Member of the Executive, Finance, and Project Development Committees

Doug earned his BS in Business Finance, minor in Economics from Portland State University in 1983. While in school and after graduating, he worked for a family import/export business supplying the underground construction & industrial products industries with gray iron castings, and supplying products to industrial lift and commercial door manufacturers. Doug was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and has remained involved as an alumnus. He has been the president of the Housing Association for the Portland State Chapter for the past 17 years. The association helped found an education foundation for the chapter that currently has a $650,000 endowment. In 1990, Doug founded his own manufacturing business supplying the construction, consumer, and aerospace industries. Products included plastic and wax injection molding and steel fabrication. Doug was granted 7 Patents for products developed and manufactured. After selling his business in 2013, Doug traveled as a consultant to worldwide locations developing products, processes and projects to solve internal & external challenges. Doug then started another business, Bowen Development Company, Inc., which was a property development company based in Portland, OR. Doug is a former Cub and Boy Scout Leader, and has always been active in his children’s schools, serving on the board and participating in fundraising activities. After selling his business and retiring, Doug and his wife Heidi, purchased a home on Lopez and began renovating. Doug managed the project himself and they moved to Lopez full time during that process. Doug and Heidi have 4 children, Nik, Nathan, Caitlinn, and Grant, and a dog named Scooter. Doug also serves on the Board and is a client volunteer for Lopez Island Home and Hospice Support.
