Birte Falconer, Advisor and Member of the Project Development Committee, has worked as a registered nurse in hospital care and home health for 20 years, first in Denmark, her home country, and later in California and Washington state.

She has since engaged in volunteer activities focused on education (reading support in public school), health (elementary school health assessment) and family support (board member of Children’s Trust Foundation, an organization focused on child abuse prevention through strengthening families). She was in charge of assessing and evaluating grant-proposals, a process that brought her in close contact with the challenges and demands on many families in our state (Lopez Island among the recipients). The Children’s Trust Foundation has since merged with Children’s Home Society of Washington.
