Settling in at Village North

Like with any new home, there’s always a to-do list—little things to tweak and fine-tune as the space settles in and our neighbors acclimate. Village North has been no exception. From electrical blips to septic system adjustments, one challenge after another has kept our team on its toes. And yet, through every hiccup, the spirit of Lopez has shone through. Local partners jumped in without hesitation. Volunteers showed up with tools and smiles. Residents—our new neighbors—met each obstacle with patience, humor, and grace. Thanks to this incredible community, what could have been a stressful month has turned into a testament of resilience and care.

There’s plenty of good news to celebrate too.

Every one of our 15 units is now officially occupied! Solar panels were installed and passed their final inspection, bringing clean, renewable energy that will help offset the cost of providing free electricity to Village North residents. And, as of this week, new landscaping is bringing fresh color and life to the property—a living reflection of the thriving community now calling Village North home.

It’s the kind of progress that, not long ago, lived exclusively on paper. Seeing it all come to life has been both humbling and heartening and we know it wouldn’t have happened without the steady support of this community.

That's not all...

As our Village North residents settled into their new homes, it seemed only fitting that we do the same. We are excited to announce that Housing Lopez has a new office at Week’s Garage!

We’d love for you to stop by, say hi, and hear what’s next in our ongoing work to make Lopez a place everyone can call home

Be part of our next chapter

Housing Lopez is at a turning point—transitioning from a hands-on, working board to a governing one. We are now supported by three new staff members and a growing need for sustainable funding.

Our housing developments are designed so that ongoing building operations, maintenance, and operating reserves are projected and covered by rents.

Your annual donations help us strengthen the organization and provide working capital to start the next project.
