Big News: Housing Lopez Wins Clean Energy Grants!
We are thrilled to share some truly bright news—literally! Thanks to the incredible work of our team — and the strength of this community — Housing Lopez is proud to announce we have been awarded two major clean energy grants to support the Village North development! These projects bring us closer to a future where affordable housing and environmental stewardship go hand-in-hand.
Washington State University Energy Program Grant Thanks to this grant, a new 78.1 kW solar array will be installed at Village North Phase 1, our newest affordable housing community. This system is expected to generate about 95% of the electricity needed for the housing units—lowering costs, reducing our carbon footprint, and building resilience for the families who’ll call Village North home.
Clean Energy Community Grant (EPIC Grants Program) Housing Lopez has also been awarded $129,315 through the Clean Energy Community Grants program, funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. This additional support will help ensure Village North operates with clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy for years to come.
Even better Thanks to the savings from solar energy, rental costs will include water, sewer, garbage, recycling, and electricity — giving tenants predictable monthly expenses and added peace of mind. In a time when affordable housing is more critical than ever, removing the burden of separate utility bills makes a real difference for families.
